The species is rare, forages on the ground and in soil, and possibly nests in the soil. There are some variations in populations from different localities: e.g., the longitudinal central carina on the median clypeal lobe may be present or absent, the apices of antennal scapes may reach to or slightly surpass occipital corners, occipital margin may be straight or weakly concave, posteroventral corner of subpetiolar process may be weakly or strongly extruding. But the cone-like process on the ventral face of the head is always present and distinct.
